Chris Painter is Policy Director at METR, where he leads engagement with governments and AI labs on frontier AI safety and has helped shape industry Frontier Safety Policies (FSPs), and he works to scale METR’s work on third-party AI risk assessment. Previously, he was a Technology and National Security Fellow at the DoD’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center with earlier work in ML applications for medicine and biotechnology.
