Chase Hasbrouck is an advisor at METR. He spent 20 years in the U.S. Army, including a decade helping build the Army’s Cyber branch from its founding. He most recently served as Chief of Forensics and Malware Analysis at U.S. Army Cyber Command. Earlier, as Deputy Director for Defensive Cyber Operations, he ran the Army’s day-to-day response to the SolarWinds compromise; he also led Cyber Protection Teams and helped build the Cyber Common Technical Core curriculum at the Army Cyber School. He was a DARPA Service Fellow and serves on the DARPA Information Science and Technology (ISAT) Study Group. He holds a master’s in computer science from Georgia Tech and writes about AI, cybersecurity, and incident response at Layer Eight.
